What is Video Interpreting?
In mostly cases video remote interpreting is required when something is being spoken to people who are deaf or hard of hearing. This is used as alternative to onsite American Sign Language. VRI is very useful when you don’t have onsite interpreters available due to any reason. If you are living in rural area where you don’t have any qualified interpreter is available, you can use video interpreting. Interpreters will be available on video and interpreter for you.
If you have hired an interpreter in past and due to emergency interpreter has to travel and can only be available on video so this type of interpretation is very useful.
How it works:
It is used through videoconferencing. Video will be transmitted to both location, in other words there will be 2 way video call. Interpreter will wear a headset and listen carefully what the hearing person tells. It will be then interpreted to deaf person. After getting response from deaf person, the interpreter will speak using microphone to hearing person.
Device which are used for VRI.
It can be done on all the devices, tablet, phone and laptop. You have to decide which technology is used to do this plus platform. In past it was done through Skype and now Zoom has taken over the major part of it. At Versatile Languages we use both depending on situation.
Like video interpretation, we can do telephonic interpretation for all languages other than American Sign Language. It will be a 2 way or 3 way call. Interpreter will be available on call. You have to dial a number, enter a pass code, select a language and you will be connected to your required interpreter.
